Community Guidelines
Lendumine works because neighbours trust each other with real things. These rules keep that trust intact.
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Breaking these rules gets content removed. Breaking them badly, or repeatedly, gets the account removed.
1. Lendumine is for adults
You must be 18 or older to hold a Lendumine account. We ask at sign-up, and accounts we find belong to someone under 18 are closed. Members arrange to meet in person, hand over real property and handle payments — that is not a service we offer to minors.
2. Be a good neighbour
- Describe items honestly, with photos of the actual item.
- Show up when you said you would, and communicate early if plans change.
- Return things on time and in the condition you got them.
- Say something if an item is damaged rather than hoping it goes unnoticed.
3. Circle discussions
A circle discussion is a space for coordinating borrowing, lending, circle activities and events. It is not a general social feed. Keep conversations respectful and relevant to the circle.
Only members of a circle can read or post in it, everyone posts under their real Lendumine profile — there is no anonymous posting — and messages do not disappear. We do not read conversations nobody has reported, but reported content can be reviewed, so please do not treat any Lendumine conversation as private in that sense.
4. Not allowed
- Harassment or hate — threats, slurs, bullying, or targeting someone over race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
- Sexual content — nudity, sexually explicit material, or sexual solicitation of any kind.
- Violence — threats of harm, or celebrating violence.
- Illegal items and activity — weapons, ammunition, drugs and drug paraphernalia, stolen goods, counterfeits, prescription medication, or anything you are not legally allowed to rent out.
- Unsafe items — equipment with defeated safety guards, recalled products, or anything you know to be broken in a way that could hurt someone.
- Scams and fraud — fake listings, bait-and-switch pricing, payment outside the app to dodge protections or fees, or chargeback abuse.
- Spam — bulk or repetitive posting, unrelated advertising, or link farming.
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person or business.
- Privacy violations — posting someone else's address, phone number, or photo without their consent.
5. Reporting something
Every listing, profile and message has a “⋯” menu with Report in it — including each individual message in a circle discussion or a chat. Pick what is wrong from the list, add anything that helps, and send it.
When you report a message we keep a copy of it, who sent it, when, which circle it was in, and the messages either side of it — so a reviewer can still act on it if it is deleted afterwards. The person you report is never told who reported them.
You can reach our safety team directly at safety@lendumine.com.
6. Your controls: block and mute
Block is immediate and mutual: neither of you sees the other's listings or messages, neither can start a conversation, and requests already between you are withdrawn. In a circle you both belong to, their posts are hidden from you — we cannot remove them for the rest of the group on one member's say-so. Everyone you have blocked is listed under Profile → Settings → Privacy & safety → Blocked accounts, and you can unblock from there at any time.
Mute is for a thread that is loud rather than harmful. Your phone stays quiet; the messages still arrive in the app. Muted conversations are listed under Profile → Settings → Notifications.
7. What circle admins can do
A circle admin can remove a message in their own circle, pause the discussion while things cool off, remove a member, and report anything to us. That is the extent of it. Admins are members, not Lendumine staff: they cannot see anyone's private one-to-one conversations, cannot suspend or ban an account, and have no reach outside the circle they run.
Only Lendumine can review reports, preserve records, remove content across the service, restrict chat, suspend an account or ban someone permanently.
8. How we respond
Reports are triaged by severity, not by arrival order. Urgent safety reports are reviewed as quickly as we can; everything else within one business day.
| Severity | Examples | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Off-topic posting, repeated promotion, mild disruption | Warning, message removal, a reminder to the circle admin |
| Moderate | Targeted insults, unwanted contact, repeated rule-breaking | Content removed, chat temporarily restricted, suspension if it continues |
| High | Threats, stalking, hate-based abuse, fraud, sexual solicitation | Account restricted immediately, evidence preserved, urgent human review |
| Critical | Credible imminent violence, child sexual exploitation, trafficking, serious criminal conduct | Evidence preserved, access locked, escalated to our safety lead and to counsel or law enforcement as appropriate |
Automated checks flag high-risk content for a person to read; they never decide on their own that someone has broken these rules. A person makes every enforcement decision that matters. We may also act on patterns rather than single messages — several unconnected people reporting the same account, for instance, gets that account looked at.
9. If you think we got it wrong
Email safety@lendumine.com with your username and what happened. We will take another look and reply.
10. Emergencies
If someone may be in immediate danger, contact 911 or your local emergency services. Reporting to Lendumine is not a substitute for emergency assistance, and we cannot respond to emergencies.
